After getting accepted in college, you want then you fill out for Federal Student Aid report, or FAFSA. Theses educational loans are a step everyone student should fill out to help pay for college tuition. This Free Application for Federal Student Aid is provided by the United States Department of Education, which you can find by surveying the Internet. This form will determine if you are eligible for grants, loans and work-study programs. Read each question very carefully and answer to the best way you know how. Once completed and electronically submitted your Free Application for Federal Student Aid, you will receive a notification via email, usually within a few days after submission. This is a form you fill out every year. You will then get a summary of all the information you put on the report. This form is called your SAR or Student Aid Report. There are five educational loans you can apply for through Federal Student Aid.
The first educational loan is the Stafford subsidized loan. This is a loan that is need based on your eligibility that is determined by the information you provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form. Subsidized means that the government will pay interest while you are in school. The second educational loan is the Stafford loan, which is the unsubsidized loan and is available to all students based on the students need. Although you do not have to pay back the loan you do have to pay back the interest accrued. The third educational loan is the Federal Perkins loan, and the amount of award money varies for both undergraduate and graduate students. Perkins loans are awarded based on financial needs and available through the college. Payments will be paid directly to the school. The fourth educational loan is the Federal Pell Grant does not have to be paid back. Pell Grants are given to undergraduate students. The fifth educational loans are scholarships and fellowships. Scholarships are for undergraduate students and fellowships are for graduate students. These are similar to the Pell Grants in that they don’t have to be repaid.
These five educational loans and free money, Stafford, Perkins, scholarships and fellowships are a great way to be able to pay for college, get your degree and start a career of your choice.
